  Spectrum UK Ltd.

Spectrum UK Ltd is part of Spectrum Communications based in the UK and , totally dedicated to provide Power Solutions to Network Operators and other large users of Power..

Spectrum UK Ltd takes the 30 years of telecommunications knowledge gained by Spectrum Communications and leapfrogs into a new field of power management.

Spectrum UK Ltd will focus on designing and producing Power Solutions and plans to diversify into other areas of the electricity generation sector.

Integrated Power Solution from Spectrum UK Ltd.

Our Solution is designed for use by Mobile and Other Telecom Service Providers with these major objectives:

  • Reduce Operational Expenditure by lowering the use of Commercial Power and/or Diesel Generators at BS Sites.
  • Provide greater power management of Remote BTS Sites.
  • Increase Revenues by ensuring continuous uptime of BTS Sites.

Components of the Solution

Wind Turbines, Solar Panels, Commercial Power, Diesel Generators. All or some of them working in harmony under the Control of Spectrum Power Management Panel (PMP).

Named the Integrated Power Solution, the system manages power usage efficiently to minimise wastage and use as much freely generated renewable energy as possible to save our clients logistics, maintenance and fuel costs.

The system combines a number of renewable energy sources. Wind Power is the primary source as it allows very high energy return for very low maintenance and space. Secondly this solution also incorporates solar panels (if required) as a secondary generation method to compliment generation. Power is stored in batteries and a controller manages devices such as heating, lighting and air conditioning. The solution is intended to provide 24/7 power to telecoms equipment and does so by having a diesel generator to keep power available in the event of low wind conditions or lack of sunshine.

We have designed our solution with Remote Telecoms BTS sites in mind especially in areas where there is a lack of power grids. And have made management easy through graphical user interface (GUI) remote access and management through Wireless technology.

Business Benefits of the solution:

In remote regions, especially where power grid access is unavailable, often diesel generators are used to keep power supplied to telecoms equipment for mobile phone coverage. Take for example a typical 13KVA Diesel generators normally require on average 2 Litres of fuel per hour and can cost more than $2USD/hour.

This translates to fuel cost of $48USD per day or $17,520USD per annum for each BTS site.

This is for fuel costs alone but Spectrum UK Ltd has also found significant costs in regular maintenance of diesel generators due to heavy usage, logistical costs of transporting and refuelling in locations, and even theft of diesel adds to these costs.

Our solution reduces the need to maintain and refuel sites as often and has remote management features allowing our clients to manage many sites at once remotely. We believe that this will provide significant reduction in operational expenditure for GSM companies and each of our installed solutions will pay for itself within one year.
